My Google Sniper Review
Thursday, February 4, 2010Google Sniper – A Review:
So it’s been quite a while since my last blog post. I’ve by no means given up my internet marketing career, I’ve simply decided to expand my options and generate several sources of income, instead of limiting myself with what I started doing initially (CarbonCopyPRO… which I’m continuing to do).
I’ve had a very interesting, and sometimes frustrating, time over the past several months trying out different internet marketing products, and foraying into different niches. One thing I have realized is that there is just SO MUCH opportunity out there for anyone with half a brain to make a full time living on the internet working from home. The internet is simply massive business… essentially almost any product or service in the world can be and is purchased online… and if it’s purchased online that you can market it online and make money.
Anyway, I’m going way off point here. This blog post is to give my Google Sniper review. Google Sniper was written by a 19 year old guy (at the time of its writing) called George Brown. George claims to be a very lazy guy, wanting to make money from home through the least possible amount of effort… and I know where he’s coming from, hehe. I think George should give himself more credit though, because he’s put together a great internet marketing manual which I’m sure has taken a lot of work.
George likes to tell it like it is… he’s honest and there’s no fluff or bs or super hyping up in his manual. It’s very straight forward and to the point, and it tells you how to accomplish each task through as easily as possible, with the least amount of work.
So… first part of the Google Sniper review… what is Google Sniper? Google Sniper is a manual which teaches you how to generate income through affiliate marketing. What’s amazing about Google Sniper though is that is teaches you how to generate traffic to your affiliate sites WITHOUT paying for traffic… yup… 100% free traffic… no Pay Per Click or any other paid advertising methods.
To some of you thinking this is over your heads or that it’s impossible… no it’s not. It’s a fairly simple process, and the Google Sniper manual lays out the steps for you to be able to do so in a very straight-forward manner… no bs or extra fluff added.
Now ok yes there is some cost associated with having your own website, but it’s minimal ($10 for the domain and a couple dollars hosting per month)… everything after that is completely free… there is simply no worry in wasting any of your money on failing methods because you’re not spending any.
George aims to generate about $600 per site he creates per month. This is a fairly modest number, but because you want to be ranked on the first page of Google, the keyword competition (and thus generally the keyword traffic) won’t be huge. What’s so great about the Google Sniper process though is that this method of marketing is easily duplicated. If you can create one site generating $600 a month, you can easily create 10… or 20… or however many you want.
And this is not a long process, nor is it an ongoing one. Once you’ve mastered the techniques, you’re talking about maybe 2 hours total to create a website which should get ranked.
Oh, and for anyone worried about creating their own site, don’t worry. George suggests (and he’s right in my opinion) to use Wordpress on all of your sites. For anyone unfamiliar with Wordpress, it essentially makes a site for you… all you’re left to do is type some text on the page.
Ok, now before it sounds like I’m hyping this up too much, I’ll state some drawbacks.
I was a fairly experienced internet marketer when I started with Google Sniper, so I knew exactly what he was talking about throughout the entire manual. There was essentially no learning I had to do and no intimidating factors. For someone completely new to the internet marketing game, obviously things would be slightly tougher. Additionally, you could create a site that doesn’t convert well, or for whatever reason you may not be able to get your site ranked (if you follow the guidelines exactly this shouldn’t be the case though). With practice makes perfect though, and you’ll always improve your work over time.
So, am I saying an internet marketing newbie couldn’t do it? No I’m not saying that at all. The Google Sniper process is more than possible for anyone with basic internet knowledge, you just might have a slightly tougher time getting things going than someone with a little experience.
So how did I do with Google Sniper? The very first site I created was ranked on Google in the number one spot within several weeks of creation… I was pretty impressed with myself, hehe. This was done following the guidelines exactly as stated in the Google Sniper manual. I probably got a little ahead of myself after that, and chose some keywords with tougher competition than was recommended, and have had some trouble with those sites. George does however tell you several methods to improve your site ranking which I’ve been working on, and I have a few more sites climbing up to the first page.
So that’d does it for my Google Sniper review. Overall, I would highly recommend Google Sniper to the newbie internet marketer, or the experience internet marketer. Success is greatly possibly with a little bit of persistence… how much money you want to make with Google Sniper is up to you.
The 5 Major Myths of Franchising
Sunday, November 29, 2009Buying into a franchise can be a very lucrative investment. However, as a franchisee your success is far from guaranteed. Company-placed systems are designed to help facilitate business operations, however they do not, by any means, make running a franchise easy. The following article will discuss the 5 major myths involved with franchising, and will reveal what you will be up against if you decide to open your own franchise.
Myth 1: Running a Franchise is Easy
There is no business opportunity in existence which isn’t going to take some hard work and effort to run successfully… and franchising is no different. Franchises have “automated” systems in place to facilitate the running of the business… a feature which attracts many to-be business owners because the hassle and uncertainty of figuring out how to run their own business is taken care of. While franchises do have a slightly higher success rate than independent small businesses, you cannot simply “plug-in” to the system and have the business run on its own. As in any business venture, there is simply no replacement for good hard work. If you’re looking for a “get rich quick” opportunity, look elsewhere.
Myth 2: Franchises are Safe Investments
Many franchise owners are recently out of business due to the horrible state of the economy… and I’m sure they would tell you otherwise. In franchising, as with any business venture, there is a degree of risk and uncertainty which comes with investing. The state of the economy is out of your control… if it starts going downhill, there’s nothing you can do about it. Moreover, once their business is up and running, many franchisees discover that running a franchise is not the calk-walk they thought it would be. Well… if you find out that you don’t have the drive, motivation, or skills it’s going to take to be successful, you’re out an investment likely somewhere in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Myth 3: A Popular Franchise is Guaranteed to be Profitable
You can’t actually see the ledger of any franchise you’re walking past, so you really have no idea how well-off that franchise owner may be. Just because you own a McDonald’s or Subway doesn’t mean automatic profits. A well-recognized name may help to bring in some customers, but you’re still going to need to have the right skill set to run a particular franchise. Additionally, proper management, advertising, and hard work will play a large role in your success or failure.
Myth 4: Buying into a Franchise is Cheaper than Starting Your Own Business
When setting up your own independent business, you are responsible for equipment, furniture, legal and consultation fees, licensing fees, internet and phone connections, taxes, etc, and of course… a location. While these are mostly taken care of when buying into a franchise, what you will pay for is the recognition of a brand name, and that company system with a proven business model… this will often set you back a few hundred thousand dollars.
Myth 5: As a Franchisee You’re Your Own Boss
As a franchisee you may not have a boss you have to answer to directly, however, you may not be provided with the total freedom you’re seeking as an entrepreneur. Variables such as wages, hours of operation, suppliers (no searching around for a better or cheaper deal… you have to purchase from your franchisor) will likely be out of your control… you are restricted to the freedoms the company system allows you.
As my opening sentence states, franchises can of course be very lucrative investments. This article is not to state otherwise… it is simply to state that they are not the cake-walk, or guaranteed ticket to success many people believe them to be. So if you decide to buy into a franchise, be sure you’re ready for what’s to come.
Online Marketing – A Requirement for Any Business
Sunday, November 29, 2009Whether you’re an online or an offline business owner, learning how to market online is a requirement for success in today’s internet age. Hardcopy forms of marketing – the yellow pages, the white pages, classified ads, etc – are quickly becoming obsolete… moving further towards obsolescence every day. As a business owner in today’s age, it’s crucial that you learn how to leverage the internet.
The internet’s reach is limitless… you’re not relegated to advertising in your own city or country… you can reach billions of potential customers anywhere around the world. Google, MSN, Yahoo, Bing, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, Youtube… the most popular websites in the world… each with millions upon millions of hits a day… all within your reach if you learn how to properly exploit them.
While it may take some time to gain a steady stream of customers using social media, search engines offer a much quicker alternative. Google is currently the most used site on the internet. Why? Because it offers users the most spam-free, highly-targeted results of any search engine. Learn how to properly use Google to your advantage, and you learn how to exploit the most used website on the internet. With Google you can potentially be reaching thousands of customers within minutes of placing your ads. In today’s marketing world, there is no quicker or more lucrative alternative. There’s a catch however… it’s going to cost you… and it’s going to cost you quite a bit if you dive in without knowing what you’re doing. Learn the necessary skills however, and you’ve acquired incredibly powerful skills to generate sales for your business.
Hardcopy is a thing of the past. Save your business from obsolescence… learn how to market your business online and reach billions of potential customers anywhere around the globe, and reach them more quickly than you could possibly imagine.
The Benefits of Online Business
Friday, November 27, 2009While traditional brick and mortar businesses can be lucrative, there are simpler options out there. Whether you’re looking to start your own small business, or whether you’re looking to buy into a franchise, home-based online businesses can be incredibly lucrative investments and have virtually none of the hassle involved with brick and mortar businesses. Read the following article for further detail.
There’s a certain “get rich quick” stigma associated with home-based online business… and unjustifiably so. However, I suppose I can’t really blame anyone, because everywhere you look online you get spammed with different “get rich quick” home-based business opportunities, when no such legitimate businesses exist. This get rich quick mentality is unfortunate, because in actuality, a legitimate home-based business can be a serious investment, and can turn some very serious profit.
A legitimate home-based business will cost you significantly less than a brick and mortar business. Investing in a well-known franchise will likely set you back a few hundred thousand dollars. Investments are similar for independent small businesses (depending on their nature and size of course). A legitimate online home-based business will likely set you back somewhere between $1000 and $10 000 USD. Yes, that much (still a massive amount less than a brick and mortar business). Remember, you are not investing in a get rich quick opportunity… you are investing in a real business with real income potential… you’re not going to make your millions online by investing $10.
While an online home-based business will require some serious hard to start generating some profit, you will be facing significantly less hassle and would experience a much greater degree of personal freedom than you would with either traditional offline option. Most top-earning home-based business owners spend around30 hours or so working per week. This is compared to who knows how much at a small independent business or franchise. Additionally, this is time working from home. You could be working in your pyjamas… in the company of your family… in bed… whatever… and travel time to and from work is non-existent.
Managing employees and inventory can be one major hassle of offline business… both completely absent from online business. You are 100% dependent on yourself for the success of your business. If you are moving any products, any stocking and moving of such will generally be done by whichever company you’ve partnered with. Most importantly, overhead (anything which does not directly contribute to profit) is also essentially non-existent in online business. There is no rent, insurance, repairs, accounting fees, and so on.
Lastly, the time it takes to recoop your initial investment is generally much much lower in online business. Franchise and small business owners are looking most-likely in the range of years, while in home-based business you could be dealing with weeks. This is no guarantee however… the time it takes you to make your initial investment back is going to be mostly dependent on your work habit and determination.
So, if you’re looking for the time and freedom associated with being an entrepreneur, starting your own home-based business could be for you. Beware however… as I mentioned previously there are quite a few scams out there in the form of online businesses. Do your due diligence, find a legitimate home-based business, and make an intelligent investment.

Listed below are four CarbonCopyPRO experts who provide live bi-weekly training on three key areas of online business.
Jimmy Davis
Struggling to run a successful home-based business from the time he was 15, Jimmy had almost given up on his dream of entrepreneurship by the time he was 24 years old, depressed, and living in his parent’s basement. He had done everything his upline taught him, but couldn’t figure out why some industry leaders were successful, yet he wasn’t. Determined to find out why, he sought out to find the answer. What was it? Personal branding. To become marketing master, you have to know how to brand yourself, and how to establish yourself as an expert. Well Jimmy discovered just how to do just that, and went from $0 in sales to $12 000 in his next month in his business. Now 27, Jimmy is a personal branding mastermind, and incredibly successful online business owner. The bi-weekly training calls he provides to CarbonCopyPRO members are invaluable.
David Schwind
Another young marketing master, David Schwind is an expert copywriter, and uses his copywriting proficiency to generate obscene amounts of money through article marketing and other such sources. In the words of Mike Dillard… copywriting is the single most important skills you can master, yet the most neglected by networkers. Master copywriting, and you’re sure to drastically increase your conversion rate. Well David Schwind is undoubtedly and expert copywriter, and has actually personally written a great deal of CarbonCopPRO’s adcopy. Every second week, David imparts a certain aspect of his copywriting expertise on his training calls.

The Cons of Franchising
Sunday, November 1, 2009Since beginning my internet marketing business, I’ve spoken to and dealt with a few former franchise owners… none of whom had anything particularly positive to say about franchising. In particular, I’ve discussed the subject extensively with my current personal mentor (one of the current top internet marketers in the world… yes officially… it is ranked). This is a guy who lost two franchise stores and went USD $500 000 into debt soon after the recession began. The following article will discuss some of the major cons involved with franchising.
First and foremost, investing in a brand-name franchise is going to set you back somewhere in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Now I understand that you’re investing in a potentially lucrative business, however, this is quite a massive sum of money to be investing in something with such an uncertain future. Why did my mentor fall $500 000 into debt? Well, the economy took a turn for the worse, and his franchises went with it. This was only a few short months after making his initial investment, and there simply wasn’t anything he could do to keep the business afloat… the economy was bad and people were spending less and saving their money. Many other franchisees and small business owners were forced to sell their businesses soon after the economy went down the tubes.
Now if you do get your franchise up and running, it’s certainly not the cakewalk many people believe it to be. Yes there are company systems in place to facilitate the running of the business, and a brand name will help you attract extra customers… but that doesn’t mean you can simply “plug in” to the system and let it run for you… there’s still going to be quite a bit of hard work involved. Franchises are definitely NOT “get rich quick” opportunities, and are by no means a guarantee of success, no matter how well-known the franchise you may be buying into.
Moreover, the hassle of dealing with employees exists. Who do you generally see working in franchise stores? That’s right… teenagers… most of whom like to fool around on the job, and don’t care which way business goes… good or bad.
Lastly, if you’re looking at buying into a franchise, it’s likely you’re looking to be your own boss. While as a franchisee you may not have to answer directly to anyone, you’re far from being able to fully-control the business. Simple rules such as wages, hours of operation, suppliers (you’re generally relegated to buying from the franchisor… no shopping around for cheaper and better deals), and so on, are out of your control. This system which helps you run the business is also going to greatly limit your flexibility as a business owner.
This article is not to say that every franchise is bound to be a failure, or that they’re impossible to run, just that they are simply not the sure-fire way to success many people think they are. Other, simpler, options do exist in the form of self-owned businesses. Online home-based businesses can be one incredibly lucrative option… an essentially recession-proof option without the requirement of a massive investment, employees, and overhead. Do your due diligence however and search out a legitimate home-based business as there are quite a few scams out there today.
Researching Jeff Learner? Read this!
Friday, October 30, 2009If you’re reading this blog post you’re like doing some research on Jeff Learner, and thinking of joining him in his business opportunity. You may be skeptical that his story is true, or that he’s going to scam you out of your money… which is understandable because there’s a lot of bs and fluff out there today in the form of home-based businesses.
I understand… I was in the same place as you at one point. I was searching for a way out of the job I hated and looking to make a living working from home. And who’s website did I come across? That’s right… Jeff Learner’s. And where am I today? Just where I wanted to be… making money working from home. And I can say a large part of my success is directly related to having Jeff Learner as my personal internet marketing mentor.
Is Jeff paying me to write this? No… this is posted directly on my personal blog, and I don’t post anything on here that I don’t want to post. Jeff is fully-deserved of this, and that’s why I’m writing it.
To put it simply… Jeff is a natural in this game. He built himself up from nothing, to within the top 500 internet marketers in the world within 8 months. This isn’t some superfluous fact… it’s actually ranked on www.businessforhome.org. Jeff is honest about openly sharing everything which got him to where he is now to everyone on his team. He’s not just looking to steal your money and leave you high and dry. Once you’re on his team, he’s there to act as your leader and mentor… to do his best to get you to the same place he is.
I am personally a very curious person, and have spent quite a bit of time grilling Jeff about the in’s and out’s of this business, and he’s been there to answer my questions for me. Moreover, Jeff holds 2 hour training webinars twice a week for his entire team… and always has great content to provide.
Like I said… Jeff’s a natural, and he’s dominated this business almost from the onset. He’s a workhorse and a learning machine… always looking to improve himself and his business, and you’d be lucky to have him as your mentor.
Check out my testimonial on his homepage… it’s there for a reason!
How to Make the Most Out of Your Lead Generation
Friday, October 23, 2009Spreading yourself too thin and constantly trying every lead-generating method under the sun can be a massive time-waster. Any expert in the industry will surely tell you that they don’t use 10 different methods to generate their leads. No… they’ve mastered a few different methods and exploited them as much as possible to generate as many leads as they can.
This is not to say that if you’re new to the industry that you shouldn’t try different things. On the contrary… if you don’t, you won’t know what you’re good at, and what works for you. After some experimentation however, take a step back and look at what is working for you. Are you placing classified ads which are generating no leads whatsoever? Well why continue down that path? Choose the one method that is working the best for you, and then MASTER IT. Master it so you can produce as many leads as you want using that method… then move on to and master the next method. Should you never place another classified ad again? No… maybe that’s what you want to focus your attention on next… and so on.
Although not necessary, mastering article or video marketing will be highly beneficial for you. Both methods can be great for generating traffic and leads, and will additionally go to establishing yourself as someone with something to offer, as well as establishing a rapport with your reader or viewer. I have however seen people produce incredible amounts of leads through Twitter, online classified ads, and other social media… so the choice is yours.
Whatever your weapon of choice, you’re also going to eventually want to master Google AdWords. Google will require a decent budget however (Google likes you better if you spend more money), and should not be “experimented” with without a significant initial understanding of the Google beast… it will eat your money without giving you anything in return otherwise. Once you master it however, you’ll be generating the fastest and easiest leads you ever have. If you’re new to the industry leave Google out of the equation unless you have the money to spend, and someone to help you and make sure you’re not going to lose your money.
That does it for this article. So master your marketing, and make the most of your time!
Three People Who Will Help You Dominate Your Business
Tuesday, October 20, 2009Sorting through all the bs that gets thrown at you when you’re in the internet marketing industry can be tough. Who’s actually a legitimate “guru”, and who will give you your money’s worth? The answer is… generally the people who are willing to provide you with some free, useful content, before you’ve bought anything, or even if you won’t ever buy anything from them.
Out of everyone on the web, here are three people (and their products) who will make YOU a guru in three important aspects of online business. If you don’t have the budget to actually buy any of the following, not to worry… they all have awesome free content they’ll provide to you.
Mike Dillard
I think this one goes without saying. Anyone who’s been in the network or internet marketing industry for any short period of time knows who Mike Dillard is, and the great content he has to offer. The Traffic Formula series is great, but it does contain information which can be more commonly found, or which may be in your company training. Magnetic Sponsoring on the other hand will teach you how to get people wanting to work with you, and how turn prospects into leads and leads paying customers. It is information less commonly found, and information that most newbies in the industry are clueless about. Also be sure to check out any other products Mike has to offer.
John Carleton
Having great copy on your landing page can drastically increase your conversions. John Carleton is without a doubt a copywriting guru… widely renowned as one of the best copywriters out there today. In the words of Mike Dillard… copywriting is the single most important skills you can master, yet the most neglected by networkers. John’s Simple Writing System is incredible, and a resource you will definitely want to consider purchasing to grow your business. John in particular has some GREAT free content (lots of great free training videos). Opt-into any forms you see on his page and go through everything he sends you… you are bound to learn something.
Perry Marshall
Perry Marshall is an expert on Google AdWords. Advertising on Google will get you the fastest and easiest traffic of anywhere on the internet. It is not child’s play however, and you’ll get killed if you don’t know what you’re doing. Perry Marshall’s Definitive Guide to Google AdWords (recently out with a new edition) provides the best content to help you optimize your Google Advertising. It’s incredibly detailed, and worth every penny. Perry often sends out great information or interviews related to network marketing (not necessarily AdWords-specific), so be sure to subscribe to his free newsletters.
So that does it. If you’re on a tight budget, do yourself a favour and go subscribe to all of the above… learn… and grow your business!
Firebug – An Incredible Free Web Development Tool
Tuesday, October 20, 2009When I started building and editing my Wordpress blog, I came to realize that it’s slightly more complicated and difficult than editing a plain html or php file. Wordpress uses a combination of php files and CSS code and ties them together to create your site.
Needless to say I was a little bit confused, and moreover I had never edited anything in CSS. I did quite a bit research in the Wordpress forums, and eventually someone in the forums recommended Firebug to me.
Firebug is application which you can install into your Firefox browser. Once it’s installed, open it by clicking the little bug in the bottom right corner of the browser. Mousing over any part of your page will highlight the html code used to create that part of the page. You can then find the corresponding CSS code, edit it in firebug, and the changes you make appear in real time, i.e. changes actually appear right on your page. If you’re new to CSS (or html… or whatever) this is INCREDIBLY useful… it really helps to visualize how the webpage is put together.
Note that Firebug does not actually change your website (this will only happen if you edit your actual website file), therefore no need to worry about making mistakes.
Also note that this is not only applicable to Wordpress sites… that is simply my personal experience.
What it Means to be an Internet Marketer
Friday, October 16, 2009Internet marketing is not on any level, a get rich quick opportunity. It’s hard to blame most people who get into the industry who have this mentality however since most opt-in pages out there tend to imply incredible income and total freedom without much hard work (even the legitimate ones)… it’s just what works. Not to say that it’s all a lie, but it takes a lot of hard work and personal development to get to the point where you’re benefiting from an internet marketing system with ease.
Truthfully I was one of those people who thought it would come a lot easier than it did. However, I definitely wasn’t in the category where I was expecting incredible amounts of money overnight with little or no effort (people in this category tend to be hopeless and will never make it in this Industry). While the company I partnered with did give me a great start and provided with some initial leverage, I soon realized there was more to this whole internet marketing thing than it seemed on the surface.
Becoming a successful internet marketer (when I talk about becoming a successful internet marketer I’m talking about generating $20 000… $40 00… $100 000 a month) is about more than just plugging into some system and profiting from it. Becoming a Michael Force, a Gregg Davison, a Jonathan Budd, a David Schwind, a Ferny Ceballos… is about personal development. It’s about learning from the masters in the industry and implementing the techniques they’ve proven to work for them. It’s about learning how to market… learning how to brand yourself… learning how to write great copy… improving your salesmanship… learning how to edit your website… it’s about getting on company training calls and webinars… getting on message boards and asking for advice… seeking out the answer wherever it may be.
The further I get into this industry, the more I see how important constant learning and personal development is. I personally had a MASSIVE learning curve since beginning my business. The great thing is though, the further you get into this industry and the more you learn, the easier it gets… and the more you have to share with others.
Starting your own internet marketing business and taking it all in as a clueless newbie can be overwhelming… I understand that. But the top 3% out there are those who pushed through the barriers… who had the desire to learn what it takes to earn the sort of freedom internet marketing provides. If you’re thinking about getting into this industry… it can be tough… but it’s MORE than worth. Learn how to market on the internet and you learn how to work from home, work minimal hours, and generate ridiculous amounts of money. Learn how to market on the internet, and you’ve written your ticket for life.
Tweetmeme – Essential for Your Blog
Thursday, October 8, 2009The tweetmeme plugin displays the “tweet” icon on your blog posts (see above title). Believe it or not, when people see this they actually use it, and it can be a great way to increase traffic to your blog.
Go here to install it to your wordpress blog.
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tweetmeme/
The default is for tweetmeme not only to display on posts, but at the top of every single page.
Personally, I didn’t want this, and I imagine most of you won’t either.
Go here for details on how to fix this problem.

Internet Marketing – The Power to Change Lives
Tuesday, October 6, 2009If you’re reading this post you’re likely looking to start your own home-based business, or at least looking to generate some income online. While you can generate incredible amounts of money as an internet marketer, most people get into this industry for the freedom and lifestyle this type of job affords them… not for the money.
Before I got into this industry I was actually quite depressed with my life. To some it may have been an ideal lifestyle, but I hated it. I had recently graduated from university as an engineer, and had just secured a career type job in my field. I went into it with an open mind, but not too long after beginning, I started to dread every single day of work.
The work was ok… it wasn’t so much the work I hated… it was the fact that I was forced to spend most of every day in a place I didn’t particularly want to be. I was forced to wake up at 7 am… spend an hour on the bus in traffic… 8 hours at this job which was “ok”… another hour in traffic on the way home… then have a few hours to myself before I started the whole thing over again. I hated it… truly passionately hated it… and I wanted a way out… I wanted the freedom to control my life.
Internet marketing has provided with a way out… with everything I ever could have dreamed of having. Sure I still have to work, but it’s work that I find fulfilling… work which I directly see results from and which I benefit from directly. I don’t have the pressure of having a boss, the pressure of being monitored and evaluated… I answer to myself and only myself. I work only a handful of hours a day… I get up when I want… and I work from home… or often enjoy the atmosphere in a local coffee shop. I have the free time I’ve always wanted to spend on hobbies… spend with friends and family… to just have fun and enjoy life.
Now, yes, this is all possible to the average person, but you have to want it. I wanted it… I couldn’t take the restrictions that were put on my life anymore, and I made it change. Internet marketing is not some get rich quick scheme. Those who are successful in the industry have put in the time and hard work to make it work for them. If you’re looking for the same time and freedom, seek out a reputable marketing company, work hard, and change your life!
A Message from Top Internet Marketer Jeff Learner
Friday, October 2, 2009Jeff Learner is currently ranked as one of the top-earning internet marketers in the world… he’s also my personal mentor with CarbonCopyPRO. He’s taught me a great deal about the industry, and continues to do so.
Anyway, that’s not what this post is about… this is about a blog post Jeff recently made, discussing top-earners’ reliance on Google AdWords. I agree 100% with what Jeff’s said, and have often thought the exact same thing. I actually beat him to the punch and stopped advertising on Google a couple months ago when Google started slapping just about everyone who was advertising with them.
Check out Jeff’s post to see what I’m talking about. I’ve posted it below in italics.
Kicking The Google Habit (An Open Letter To Top Earners…)
This may be the most important blog post I have ever written as an internet marketer. Certianly in terms of my own personal business it is a “defining moment”.
As is typical in such moments I am a mix of nerves and excitement. Such moments include the thrill (or terror) or the unknown. Stay with me, you’ll see where I’m going with this…
I am choosing to write in the form of a letter. It’s a letter directed to top earners in my company (many of whom are also my close friends). But if done properly this letter should hold fruit for any internet marketer.
I will be as succinct as possible (for me) but I have a lot to say. Here goes…
My fellow top earners,
For most of my 9 months thus far as an internet business owner I have been a “top earner”. I’ve averaged about $40,000 a month in profit (not revenue mind you – actual profit) and that includes the 3 months it took me to get ramped up. Not as much as some of you guys but still… I have been blessed beyond belief and it is still happening. Thanks to him with whom all credit lies.
I’ve also gotten to see hundreds of others come into our business and have all manner of results. Some have done as well as us, some have done nothing, and most sit smack dab in the middle of the bell curve thankful for their results but wondering how to get to where we are.
For us whose businesses are at the far right of the online success bell curve, we know something. It’s not a closely guarded secret by any stretch but it’s also not something we always publicize…
Well here it is out loud (forgive me guys)… There are few top earners (if any) who do not rely on the Google AdWords platform for a majority of the leadflow that keeps them at the top.
We don’t publicize this for three reasons.
1. We don’t like to acknowledge it. It makes us uncomfortable for obvious reasons.
2. It is the least duplicatable part of what we do. It’s tough for the “average” guy to duplicate because of the start up cost and the skill and time required.
3. Despite what we tell ourselves and others we know AdWords can and will get saturated (and in some respects already is).
For some of us it may be half our leads, for some it may be nearly all. But I don’t know any one of us who doesn’t get a huge amount of his traffic from this one source (except for those of us who get slapped or suspended and they tend to drop off the leader boards pretty quick).
Now, I should qualify this and say my evidence for all of this is anecdotal and stems mainly from conversations – if you are reading this and know me to be wrong about where top earners get their traffic please comment as such or email me.
But my conversations with other top earners tend to echo a sentiment I feel in my own business – as goes Google so goes my income.
And that is more power than we as entrepreneurs should ever give any one entity.
I love the company we market with (and we all count the owners as friends) but I would never go so far as to say that I could not generate significant online income without them. And I know most of you guys feel the same way.
So how is it that we grant to Google (a distant Goliath that doesn’t care about us at a personal level) a level of authority over our business that we would never grant to our friends who care about us?
How tragic is it that at the whim of Google, our businesses can be decimated overnight?
And what is the tragedy? That Google is “heartless”? Or that we have allowed ourselves to be at the mercy of a for-profit company like Google (which must by its nature be merciless)?
And why have we let this to happen? Simple.
We are lazy…
Fat and happy and sucking at the fertile teat that Google has created for us hoping desperately she never cuts us off while we allow ourselves to be extorted for the traffic that we fear only she can provide.
Forgive the crassness of the image but it is apropos. We are dependent like babies with soft fleshy limbs, not toughened by the rigors of fending for ourselves. Some of us may have once been rugged and strong, but more and more each day we are beholden to the Google God-Parent for our sustenance and our play money.
I grew up around a lot of wealthy people and looking back I see 2 kinds of people that come from wealthy parents…
For simplicity’s sake I’ll call them entrepreneurs and trust fund babies (forgive the oversimplification but I need it for the metaphor).
Entrepreneurs are those who saw in their own families the value and power of wealth. They developed a healthy appreciation for the ingenuity and resourcefulness somebody in their family must have had to accumulate such wealth and now approach life with a healthy view of money and hard work.
The other camp is the trust fund babies. They grow up thinking money is just always going to be there (and for some it always is) but they do not fully experience the richness of life that comes with knowing how to fend for yourself.
I know several trust fund babies. Some of them were very close friends growing up. Most of them are not anymore as they are permanently 18 years old.
Now I know this not a perfect metaphor. Many of us have experienced the tougher side of life and certainly we all worked hard for what we now have.
And it is our intangibles that we all forged in the trenches of “real world warfare” that make us so attractive when we market ourselves with AdWords. (People relate to us because we are not actual trust fund babies).
But still…
Let’s not think that we don’t need to keep hitting the gym to stay in shape.
Google is spoiling us, making us soft. We are great at converting leads but we are getting soft on how to generate them without AdWords.
And there’s a cost here… to our community and to ourselves.
We are kidding ourselves if we don’t acknowledge the perception out there that we are “one-trick ponies” who are where we are because we appease Google.
Sure we took the time to learn the skills and build the pages that Google likes. And we should get credit for that (and we do get plenty of it).
But let’s face it. There was more than just the efforts of our own hands that went into our success.
Right place, right timing, right look, right page, right ad, right headline, right story, right amount of cash to get started with… Sure we “got it right” but is it really right? Or is it just profitable?
Is it right that we promote a bundle of skills that “anyone can use to become a successful entrepreneur in the 21st century” when for most of us just one of those skills (the one which is the least accessible to the average guy) is the linchpin on which the others rest?
No doubt a good internet marketing mix should include Google AdWords but it shouldn’t be dependent on it, right?
Understand, I’m not asking this from an anti-captialist perspective. I believe that those who have assets (liquid capital, mental acuity, preexisting skills) do and should have a natural advantage, including the abiity to market with Google AdWords.
I’m asking from a business perspective.
A business that is entirely built on one traffic source could never be sold as it has no intrinsic value. If we become dependent on Google for all of our traffic we’re no different than a brick and mortar business that is only in business because of the freeway that runs next to it.
In fact we’re worse off… freeways are tough to move. Google’s algorithms can be tweaked in an instant.
Location, location, location doesn’t work on a digital freeway. Our type of business will always lack value with real investors if it is built on sand that can shift so easily.
I am also asking from an integrity perspective.
Is it right that we are considered great marketers because we excel at complying with one company’s algorithm? Are we really great marketers? Or are we just great at giving Google what it wants?
Perhaps we’re both (indeed I think most of us are) but there’s still a lingering question.
Do we all firmly believe that we could be top earners in this industry without AdWords?
I’ve heard a lot of us say we do… that we would just apply our diligence elsewhere. But I’ve yet to see somebody prove it.
Yet.
If attraction marketing works as we say it does than I shouldn’t need AdWords, right?
Time to put my money where our mouths are.
For the time being, I am through pleasing Google. They are not my friend and they are not my customer.
Actually, come to think of it, I am their customer though for some reason they don’t seem too concerned with pleasing me.
The only people I know who continue to do business with vendors who treat them like garbage are drug addicts and internet marketers
I’m not sure which one I’ve been for the last 9 months.
Time to detox.
Google ads off.
AdWords account closed.
I’ll see you guys back on the leader boards in a few months grinning ear to ear.
Because I won’t be locked in a cage with an 800 pound gorilla.
And sure once I’m back on the boards (without Google) I’ll probably turn AdWords back on. I am afterall a marketer and it is a lucrative marketplace in which to set up your shop.
But it’s not the only one and frankly lately it’s been kind of sleazy. In the last several months Google has been unworthy of my (our) business.
Seeing your friends and colleagues get slapped around and bullied is kind of a turn off, at least for me.
So for now I’m kicking the habit.
Betty Ford Clinic here I come!
Anyone want to join me?

Marketing Advice from Mike Dillard
Thursday, October 1, 2009As I’ve mention previously, I’m a subscriber to Mike Dillard’s Magnetic Sponsoring newsletter. That’s because Mike is someone you can count on to provide you with great content, every time.
Anyway, I thought his last newsletter message was great, and just thought I would share it. I completely agree with his advice too… find what works for you… master it… and stick with it :).
The letter is below in italics.
Mike, I’ve Spent $6,000 On Leads… Now What!?
Hey Matthew, hope you’re having a great Friday! I just got back from a trip to San Francisco, (man I love the weather there!), and wanted to use my last bit of free time before the weekend, to send you a new edition of “Ask Mike” today…
Today’s question comes from Dave:
==========================
“Mike,
I have been trying for 4 months and have spent over $6000 on ads, radio, newspaper, purchased 300 leads, Prewebb articles, bandit signs, and have gotten over 700 prospects to talk with but it is very evident that I need to be able to keep the flow going without spending the money.
The other alternative is to make money when my website is viewed to fund my expenses such as you have laid out. I am not very internet savy so I need specific help to how your plan works and how to get it up and running.”
- Dave
==========================
Thanks for the question Dave, and I think I can help…
So here’s what I can see from your email…
1: That you’re really determined to make your business work, which is great.
2: That you’re really trying everything under the sun to see if it will work… Radio, press releases, classifieds, signs, lead companies, etc… (I did the same thing when I was getting started).
3: You’ve realized that it’s important to make money, even if your prospects don’t join your business in order to cover your advertising costs.
So here’s my advice…
A jack-of-all-trades is a master of none.
In order for you to produce leads at a reasonable cost, (which is from $1.00 to $5.00 per lead), you have to pick ONE single method of advertising, and stick with it until you master it.
And I’d say you’ve “mastered” something, when you can produce as many leads as you want, at the cost you want, AND be able to teach that skill to someone else.
You can choose from:
* Pay-Per-Click (Google Adwords)
* SEO (articles and blogs),
* Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube)
* Or old-school “person-to-person networking”
Even though I can’t see your capture pages or your ads, I can bet you’re losing the marketing game right now for three reasons:
1: Your ad copy probably needs some work. This is the single most important skills you can master, yet the most neglected by networkers.
2: Your capture page probably isn’t matched perfectly to each ad, and each advertising medium. They have to be completely congruent in order for you to get an acceptable conversion rate.
3: You haven’t mastered any one particular advertising medium, which means your results will be a fraction of what they could be.
Your SUCCESS is in the details of this marketing process, yet you can only master an eye for those details, through a focused education on each medium.
For example, even though I’m really good at marketing and writing copy, I would still feel uneasy about producing leads through classified ads in newspapers, because I haven’t done that in about 5 years.
I’d have to study some experts and run some tests in various papers for serveral months before I really knew what I was doing.
The same thing applies to SEO, PPC, or YouTube.
Throwing things against the wall, and money at different ad mediums isn’t going to work.
You’ve got to pick ONE method, and master it.
Now to answer the second part to your question…
You said you wanted to focus on free, and low-cost advertising options because it’s getting expensive…
Well I’d focus on converting the leads I DO PRODUCE into paying customers, because your time is valuable too…
You could spend the next six months producing thousands of leads for free using Twitter, but if you don’t know how to convert them into distributors or customers, then you’ve wasted six months of your time.
On the other hand, if you DO learn how to covert them into paying customers, then you can re-coup your ad costs, and take advantage of paid advertising methods like PPC, for “free”.
This “funded-proposal” method is how I’ve always built my business, and it’s what allows me to produce 500+ leads per day using PPC, at no cost.
In fact, I literally get paid to produce leads, while most people spend money.
As I’m sure you know, this entire process is revealed in the Magnetic Sponsoring Course, so I won’t get into detail about that here.
But if that’s something you’d like to learn, you can pick a copy up here, and try it out these methods risk-free, for a full year.
If you don’t like it, you don’t pay for it…
If you aren’t producing as many leads as you want for free, then you can return the course for a full, no-questions-asked refund… AND… Keep all of the bonuses I’m going to send you as well for free.
I hope this helps put you on the right track!
How Long Does it Take to Become a Successful Internet Marketer
Friday, September 4, 2009If you’re thinking of starting your own online business, you may be wondering exactly how long it will take for your business to become profitable. Well this isn’t exactly an easy question to answer as your success is going to be dependent on many factors, including your training, your marketing methods… and most importantly… your work ethic.
Being a successful internet marketer myself, I’ve seen turn-around times from a couple of weeks to several months… and then there are those who join but simply never put in any work at all and who never find success online. Let’s take the best case scenario and say you really jump into your online business with both feet and work at things like there’s no tomorrow… you personalize your landing page, create a decent hub/blog page, create a few articles and videos, get on youtube, facbook and Twitter, and start advertising on Google AdWords. The social media and blog sites will be mainly to establish your credibility (but will also bring in some leads), while your Google AdWords campaigns will bring in the majority of your leads. If this is you, then you could legitimately be turning a profit within a couple of weeks. AdWords will generate essentially instant leads for you and your online business if you know what you’re doing. AdWords isn’t child’s play however, so you will need to know how to run your own ads to turn a positive ROI.
Let’s say you do all of the above, yet don’t have any marketing budget, i.e. you will not be running ads on Google. If it’s truly what you want and you put in the effort to succeed, your business could be really taking off after a couple of months. Without the fast and easy leads generated by Google, it will take a couple of months of free content to get a constant stream of leads coming in. This is the harder route, but is accomplishable by the average person with a strong desire to have the freedom of working from home.
As a final note, some of you may be taken aback by the fact that I’m stating the time to success as weeks or even months… but that’s the truth in the online business industry. It’s not overly difficult to succeed, but it’s also not easy. Do not fall for the hype of any opportunity promising you lots of money for little or no effort. The fact is that you’re going to have to put in some good hard work for a period of time before you start to see results coming in. No one company or system has some magic method of bringing generating instant income for you… and the next time you see such an offer, ignore it and move on.
The Skills of a Successful Internet Marketer
Thursday, September 3, 2009I truly do believe that essentially anyone, regardless of age (over 18 at least) or background, can become a successful internet marketer… there are however a few skills which will help you succeed. If you’re thinking about getting into the online business industry and wondering exactly what skills will help you to be successful, read on.
First and foremost, you’re going to need to be willing to learn and you’re going to need drive and determination. If you join a reputable internet marketing company, the basics of how to generate leads and make conversions should be laid out for you… it will simply be your job to follow a system that already works. What most people underestimate when starting this kind of thing is the “entrepreneurial mindset”. This isn’t something that’s going to come easily in a day or a week. You really have to want it, and you’re going to have to put in the time and effort for it to happen.
As for what tasks you’re going to need to complete… writing articles and making videos are a great way to generate free leads for your online business, however they’re also very good at establishing yourself as a marketing authority as well as demonstrating that you’re an actual person. Most people aren’t going to want to join a nameless, faceless internet business… so that extra little personal connection can go a long way. In no way are either of these necessary for you to succeed online, but being a good writer or being very comfortable in front of a camera can really help your business grow. I know a lot of people are particularly averse to creating videos of themselves, which I can understand because I was one of them. I’m still not 100% comfortable, but it gets easier with every video you make… so force yourself to do it and it will pay off in the end.
Basic internet and computer skills will also be a plus. If you’re already browsing the internet and reading this, then it’s likely you already have the basic skills required. If you feel you’re a little rusty on a computer, there really isn’t anything too technical you’ll have to do (most using social media sites), so not to worry. Ideally you’ll have your own personal mentor in whichever company you’ve joined, and they’ll be able to guide you through what you need to know.
Those really are the three major skills you’re going to need to be a successful internet marketer… as you can see it’s not rocket science… most people simply don’t put in the required effort and/or give up before they’ve given things a chance to come to fruition. Yes there are some other skills you should learn as your business begins to grow (although not necessarily required as it’s always possible to pay other people to do things for you) such as educating yourself on Google AdWords, or learning how to create your own websites… but just as with any other business some, level of personal development is always necessary.
The most important factor in determining your success or failure is going to be your drive and motivation… so if you think you have what it takes… start looking for a legitimate online business, work at it, and don’t give up!
How to Write an Article to Generate Leads
Monday, August 31, 2009Writing informative articles can be a great way to generate leads for your online business while at the same time establishing yourself as a marketing authority… and moreover, it’s free. However, if you’re just beginning in your online opportunity you may wonder exactly what it is you can be writing about to generate leads, and whether you’re actually qualified to be writing about any of this.
Not to worry… there are so many people out there looking for online opportunities, and many of them don’t know a thing when it comes to internet marketing. If you have any knowledge on the subject whatsoever, you’re ahead of the game. Ideally, whichever online opportunity you’ve joined has provided you with the necessary training to market your business. So what’s one great way to start? Write a tutorial on how others can market their business with the same methods you’ve just learned about.
Before you started your online business what questions did you have about the industry? Many others looking to start their own home-based businesses likely have the same questions and may find an article on the topic quite useful. I’ve personally found that these types of articles produce the most amount of leads because you’re targeting individuals who aren’t already involved in an online business. There are endless questions you can answer for individuals looking to start their own businesses… how much does an online business cost, what is MLM, what is direct marketing, do legitimate online businesses truly exist… and so on.
If you find yourself running out of ideas to write about, there are a few methods I use to generate more topics. I find the most useful to be expanding upon previous topics. Maybe you’ve written an article about free internet marketing methods encompassing all methods you know about. Expand upon this and write about each individual marketing technique… then expand upon this and focus on a particular aspect of each technique. This method can be extremely useful in producing a large number of article topics.
You may find yourself struggling a little bit at first, but the more you write, the easier it will become and the easier you’ll find yourself coming up with topics to write about. The longer you’re in the industry, the more information you’ll have to provide to others as well… so stick with it and don’t give up… everyone starts somewhere.
Ways to Make Money Online
Monday, August 31, 2009If you’re looking for ways to make money online, you have a few different options. Are you looking to start a legitimate online business and replace your full-time salary, or are you looking for a more solitary venture and not an actual business? The following post will cover the three most popular current online money-making ventures.
Let’s begin with affiliate marketing. If you’re looking to work completely on your lonesome, this is probably for you. If you’re looking to start your online venture in affiliate marketing however, you might find yourself hard-pressed on where exactly to begin. In affiliate marketing you’re going to be promoting other products for other people. You place little ads around the internet, and if someone clicks on your ad AND buys something, you generate a commission (generally a small percentage of the cost of whatever was bought). The problem with affiliate marketing is that you’re going to have to learn how to advertise on Google or other search engines. This isn’t child’s play, and you can lose a lot of money fast if you don’t know what you’re doing. You can definitely advertise on your own domain or blog, but you’re going to have to find something to blog about or get a substantial amount of traffic to your site to make any money.
Moreover you’re going to have to decide upon which products to advertise… which are going to bring you a positive ROI, and so on. There are affiliate programs out there, but you may find it very difficult to find one where there’s an actual person behind the system who you can talk to and ask questions to when you get stuck.
As a final note on affiliate marketing, if you’ve ever heard about Google Cash, I would recommend NOT buying it. It’s more of a beginner’s guide to affiliate marketing, and you’ll find yourself with many questions and no one to give you the answers (I’ve tried it and learned this lesson the hard way).
Your next option is Multi Level Marketing, or MLM. Products you sell in MLM tend to be health juices, pills, beauty products, etc. I would not recommend getting into MLM currently, because it’s simply not what it used to be. There are so many MLM companies popping up nowadays, and people jump around from one to the other looking for the next best thing. The attrition rate in MLM currently is not good, with most people leaving whichever MLM company they’ve joined within the first 90 days. In MLM, you’re reliant on the success those you sign up in the company under you to generate significant income. Succeeding in this industry isn’t an easy task when most people you sign up leave you within 90 days. Are there people who make very good money in MLM? Definitely… but they are few and far between, and tend to be people who have been at it for a long long time.
Finally we have internet marketing. I personally believe that Internet marketing is your best way to make money online, and your best bet if you’re looking to start an actual business. Your job as an internet marketer will be to get your business opportunity out there to as many potentials customers as possible (and believe me there are a LOT of people looking to start home-based businesses out there right now) through a variety of methods. Your job won’t be as a salesman, but as a marketer, attracting potential customers to come to YOU looking to join you. You should search for a legitimate home-based business… one which will provide you with full training, tools, and resources to successfully market your opportunity.
Beware though, because the market is getting completely flooded with scams and “get rich quick” schemes. You’re not going to find an internet marketing program which will generate you money for little or no effort… and you’re not going to make money online without spending any (the same goes for affiliate marketing and MLM). There are no legitimate “make money for no investment or effort opportunities” out there… so don’t believe the hype.
How Much Does a Legitimate Home-Based Business Cost
Monday, August 24, 2009You may be looking to start your own home-based business, yet are not entirely sure how much money you’re going to have to invest. Well… the answer might surprise you a little bit. Many people looking to make money online tend to have a “get rich quick” mentality, and there is really no reason for it. If you’re looking to replace your full time income and work from home, there is going to need to be some serious hard work involved, and you’re going to need to make a financial investment.
So how much exactly would I recommend investing in an online opportunity? I would recommend investing at least $1000 to $2000 USD. This might shock many of you, and I likely would have felt the same way reading this a year ago. However, in actuality, this is an incredibly small amount of money to invest into a business in which you could make $200 000 USD (or more, depending on your work ethic and marketing strategies) from home in your first year. These types of numbers are genuinely possible with the right attitude, work ethic, training, and a legitimate online company. It’s unfortunate that so many people tend to look for a way out in the form of a free and/or no-effort opportunity. I will tell you now… such opportunities simply do not exist online, so don’t fall for the hype.
How much do people spend on average opening their own franchise such as McDonald’s or Subway? The number is in the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of dollars, yet this is generally seen as ok since it’s a traditional “brick and mortar” business. The truth is, you can make more money online for a fraction of the traditional “brick and mortar” investment, with no overhead and much less hassle.
Don’t let the online investment numbers get you down. Search out a legitimate online opportunity and put down some well-invested income. Is six figures a year and the freedom of working from home worth a $2000 investment? I think most of you would agree that YES IT IS.
